Report on PBIA Citizen's Committee on Airport Noise 2/1/09 |
|
I attended the Citizen's Committee on Airport Noise for all of us on 2/1/09.
- First, business is down for all airlines and passengers due to the economy but no significant layoffs have occurred, although workers hours have been shortened.
- A fine new radio tower is being constructed in the NW area of the field. It will be 230 feet tall in contrast to the old tower of 120 feet.
- Renovation to most of the parking spaces will occur in stages and will not inconvenience parkers.
- FedEx has signed a new quieter carrier for it's air service.
- Information on sound insulation can be gotten from the Office of Building and Zoning.
- Mr. Agnew was elected chairman and Mr. Alterman vice-chairman of our group.
- We continue to live under a noisy flight path although there has been some slight improvement due to the newer and lighter planes.
Respectfully submitted, Dr. Jim Lea
