Because our neighborhood is active in several aspects of the City, we have many committees to help keep our membership represented and informed. Neighbors are encouraged to serve on a committee that interests them the most.
Both Southland Park and Prospect Park are both being re-surveyed during the month of May. Our national historic registry application is due to be ready for submission by the end of June 2008. GAI consulting is doing the field work and formal application.
Each month this committee collects all police data and emails our members a summary of all crime/911 calls from our area. In addition to keeping neighbors informed, this committee also helps with education and prevention efforts in conjunction with the City.
The beautification committee just completed the 6 SPHNA signs that are posted at the neighborhood's primary entry points further helping to brand and beautify our portion of the City. In addition, new curbing and asphalt has been installed on 2 our 4 streets.
Future beautification projects include: lining the streets with canopy trees in partnership with a local nursery and continuing curbing and paving efforts.
The airport committee is charged with representing SPHNA at all airport meetings. CCAN (Concerned Citizens on Airport Noise) is a county meeting held quarterly. With the airports current expansion plans, this committee is also involved in the FAA Focus Group meetings and in keeping the neighbors informed about PBIA.
